When we started to develop our range of baking and cakes, we did so with a firm ethos. We would use no chemicals or preservatives in our cakes, using only use the absolute best ingredients – and we would not mass-produce cakes.

We have a thriving cake decoration business at the City Cake Company, and many of our custom cake orders involve bespoke decoration. There is no doubt in my mind that cakes are fashion. We have seen many styles of cake decoration come and go, but the simple and beautiful remain the overwhelming favourites.

Butter cream has become a requested icing on our bespoke cakes for delivery in Auckland. We make hundreds of butter cream cupcakes a week, and now do a range of boutique cakes for birthdays, celebrations and gifts, layered with delicious butter cream.
